Thurgood Marshall College Fund Scholarships

Merit based and applicants must have a financial need to qualify

1. Restricted for payment of tuition, on campus room and board, books and fees
2. Paid directly to the college or university on behalf of the award recipient to be credited to his or her school account
3. The average award is $3,100.00 per student per semester
4. All scholarship award recipients must re-apply annually

TMCF Scholarship Criteria:

1. Must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 
2. Student Aid Report
3. Attend one of the 47 TMCF member-schools
4. Be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident with a valid permanent resident card or passport stamped I-551
5. Demonstrate leadership qualities and community service 
6. Signed recommendation letter by a faculty or staff member of your current school

Camp College

Camp College is a college-going program for rising seniors to spend 2 nights on a college campus and learn about the college application process. This program is open to any Texas high school student who is considered to be college bound. This year's Camp College will be held at the University of Texas at Arlington from Monday June 9 - Wednesday June 11, 2014.  The cost of the program is free to students. 
 
If you are  interested, please apply for Camp College no later than April 1, 2014. Please remember that this deadline includes the additional student packet, the link to which students will receive with their confirmation email. Space is limited, so apply as early as possible!
 
Camp College will provide buses for students coming from the Dallas, Houston, San Antonio, and Austin regions.

Deadline for the First Annual Mayor's Art Scholarship is in Two Weeks!

The submission deadline for the first annual Houston Mayor's Art Scholarship is on Friday, February 14, giving students only two weeks to submit their artwork! Juniors and seniors from any school district that partners with Houston Arts Partners or any of its partner arts organizations are eligible to participate. Scholarship amounts range from $500 - $1000.

The annual Mayor's Art Scholarship competition fosters collaboration among Houston-area high school fine arts departments and recognizes excellence in student art, which expresses cultural identities and features of life in Houston area neighborhoods.

The goals of the Scholarship are to provide a forum for self-expression and creative thinking in neighborhoods, recognize achievement and excellence in visual arts among high school students in the city, and foster art as a means to strengthen relationships amongst students, communities and higher education.
